Concerns on Global Warming

Coming into the 21st century, one of the biggest concerns of the entire world is on the global warming. As consequences of global warming, we have been experiencing significant natural disasters over the past, and the frequency of them continues to increase, including major earthquakes in Japan, New Zealand and China. United States of America had more snowfalls than some parts of Canada, while other parts of the world had disastrous droughts. Many organizations such as Greenpeace are trying to protect natural environment and promote countries to reduce consumption of fossil fuels to slow down the speed of global warming. Is there anything that we can do to stop global warming? Do you think all the countries are putting global warming as their first priority over their economic growth? Is Canada safe from the natural disasters?

Protests and Democracy in Egypt (February 11)

The failure to address this situation effectively, with all of its consequences for poverty and unbalanced development, together with limitations on basic freedoms, has triggered this historic outpouring of popular demands in Egypt. The number of protesters was as high as two million and on February 11, they finally succeeded to eject Egyptian President Muhammad Hosni Sayyid Mubarak from his long dictatorship. What do you expect to see in Egypt? Would Egyptians be able to bring democracy to the country?

Government of Canada vs. PM Stephen Harper

The conservatives have been known as a government that has a game plan to get things done. But have they gone too far recently with the whole Bev Oda dispute, the first government to be charged with 3 counts of reform, and the 30 BILLION dollar underestimate for the replacement new CF-18 jets to F-35 in a penny saving economy? Is this really the government we want to be riding? What would you like to see from new government after federal election in May?

Libya Crisis and Oil Supply ( January 13, 2011 )

Protests in Libya caused the oil prices to increase significantly in the past. And members of United Nations agreed to force the Gadhafi Government by placing military actions in Libya. As the consequence, it is expected to bring more damage to the country in terms of death and destroying infrastructures. Would this intervention help Libya to set better country without Gadhafi? Or is this only giving other countries a chance to show their military power, control the oil price and perhaps take over Libya? Do you think current oil price is caused mainly by Libya?

Japanese Earthquakes ( March 11, 2011 )

Ever since tragic earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia, another large earthquake was made in Japan on March 11, 2011. Many concerns were brought in as this resulted in breakdown of six nuclear plants near the sea. This will take so much time to recover and it will have impacts on world's economy. Would this be opportunity for us to have more economical power? Or would this worsen our economy as one of the world's largest economy collapses? Do we necessarily need to build them?
